We are currently seeking an experienced and passionate Community Engagement and Wellbeing Coach to join us in empowering people to live bold, independent and better-connected lives through our new Beating the COVID Blues program. The Community Engagement and Wellbeing Coach will be responsible for providing time-limited, individual support to our clients in Newcastle and Lake Macquarie who are at-risk of or experiencing mental health challenges as a result of loneliness or isolation. To achieve this, this role will work on building trusted relationships with our clients, create personalised support plans, and connect clients with local, diverse and culturally appropriate community groups, services and voluntary organisations. This role will also work collaboratively and engage with a diverse range of local partners to raise awareness of social prescription, information share, build referral pathways, and other community engagement activities. This is a full time, fixed term contract to June 2022Key responsibilitiesFacilitate and implement strengths based, reablement focused social connections for identified and referred at-risk clients in the community which includes conducting assessments, goal identification, co-designing a support plan and facilitating community connections Provide coaching to clients to build their skills and capacity, working through barriers to sustain meaningful connections Lead engagement and work collaboratively with key community stakeholders to increase awareness of social prescription through activities including workshops, information sessions, presentations, expos Promote inclusion and connection across and between health care professionals and other community stakeholders Measure and evaluate the impact and outcomes for clients enrolled in the program The boxes you will tick Significant proven experience working in community development roles and an understanding of community capacity building models Experience and knowledge of Newcastle and Lake Macquarie local community supports and health network Experience in new program development, implementation and roll out Exceptional interpersonal skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution skills, in supporting people, community groups and local organisations Rapidly builds and maintains strong collaborative, partnering relationships Excellent verbal, communication and presentation skills Open-minded, non-judgemental and respectful of client choices Ability to work flexible hours, dependent on work requirements The ability to work confidently, effectively and positively in a diverse, and sometimes challenging environment is essential IT literacy, e.g. confidence in working in portal-based systems, data entry in electronic systems, utilising videoconference software For brownie pointsTertiary qualifications related to Public Health, Human Services, Community Development or similar Demonstrated project management experience and administration Experience in development of community capacity building or community development projects Previous experience in the Aged and community care sector Work perks (the goodies!)Technology kits including a laptop and smart phone Salary packaging (up to $15,899 per annum) Discounted access to applicable health and fitness clubs Keeping health and wellbeing at the top of mind, take advantage of our Employee Assistance Program You will be backed by a training and development team committed to your continuous face-to-face and online learning We are on the good side, supporting people to live vibrant, healthy, independent, and connected lives Plus, meaningful experiences where you know you are making a positive impact in the local community everyday About us We want our team to be made up of people from all walks of life.
